Gli Oscar 2024 entrano nel vivo con l’annuncio della shortlist dedicata alla categoria dei migliori effetti speciali, con la gara per questa ambita statuetta già ridotta a soli venti titoli i cui nomi sono stati svelati in queste ore.
I primi 20 finalisti dell’Oscar degli effetti visivi sono ufficialmente passati al turno successivo di votazioni: tra questi ci sono Barbie di Greta Gerwig, Poor Things di Yorgos Lanthimos, Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire di Zack Snyder e, l’unico contendente al film d’animazione, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Tante le sorprese, come ad esempio l’inclusione di Godzilla: Minus One, l’unico titolo straniero nella rosa di candidati, ma anche l’assenza di Oppenheimer di Christopher Nolan, soppiantato dal nuovo film di George Clooney, il dramma sportivo The Boys in the Boat di Prime Video: per il film di Nolan, che per alcuni punta a raggiungere il record assoluto di 15 nomination agli Oscar, l’assenza in questa categoria era comunque stata messa in conto, considerata la quasi totale assenza di effetti speciali.
